A national United Methodist mission providing direct relief to the hungry through gleaning, the potato project, and Harvest of Hope educational program; Benn’s supports the Virginia effort through monetary donations and volunteers.
UMCOR uses school kits, hygiene kits, and cleaning kits (during disaster). Benn’s contributes these at UMC yearly conference.

It is time for the annual Henderson Settlement of the Red Bird Mission collection. Each year over 200 of the neediest families are served, with more than 500 children receiving gifts. Last year, Bethany UMC took gifts from over 18 churches.
The Henderson settlement is part of the Red Bird Mission Collection the neediest in Appalachia. New Christmas gifts and new pajamas for children aged newborn to 18; new full or queen-size blankets; hats, and gloves all sizes. new towel sets (bath, hand, and wash cloth folded together); new or gently used winter coats and monetary gifts will be accepted, Boxes are set up on the pew outside the office.
